Yes this weekend, January 9-10, 2010. It’s the Santa Cruz Fungus Fair. According to the website some of the highlights are:
- Lectures by prominent mycologists and basics of mushroom identification in our popular Mushrooms 101 class.
- Dr. Tom Volk, University of Wisconsin, La Crosse, a very popular and knowledgeable professional mycologist, will discuss the wonderful world of wild mushrooms.
- Learn about medicinal properties of mushrooms from renowned herbalist Christopher Hobbs.
- Ask an expert to identify a mushroom from your back yard.
- Top chefs and mushroom epicures Jack Czarnecki (The Joel Palmer House) and Jozseph Schultz (India Joze) who will provide amazing cooking demonstrations that will be sure to thrill your palate.
- Children will enjoy many hands-on activities in the Kids Room, including a fungus exploration area, clay mushroom building, face paints, and more!
- Vendors will be selling books, mushrooms and other related mushroom items and fungal food.

BTW, did you hear that the 2010 North American Mycological Association (NAMA) national foray will be held in Winter Park, Colorado? Good place for it. I went to one at Copper Mountain some years ago.
