Members of the genus Candida (especially Candida albicans) are causative agents of “yeast” infections in humans. Candida is also a lethal agent of deep mycoses in immunodeficient patients. The research team includes members of the Broad Institute of Harvard and MIT. The original research was published in Nature.

The article (and the MIT press release) says that Candida is related to bakers yeast. Well… close enough I guess.
