What Ever Happened to… Cantharellus AB?

Cantharellus AB was a Swedish company formed to market technologies for growing golden chanterelle mushrooms (Cantharellus cibarius). I believe the idea was to offer trees inoculated with the fungus—at least that is what the company president told me on the phone many years ago. I think it was some time in the mid to late 90′s.

A patent on a unique strain of the fungus was filed in 1997 and assigned to the company in 2001.

Efforts to contact people who likely know what happened to the company have been unsuccessful (no response). Cantharellus AB does not have a website. A mention of the company at a Swedish website along with with the word “liquidator” leads me to believe the company is history.

But who now owns the patent? Why did the company go under? Did anyone ever try their product? Was their strain ever used to attempt to grow chanterelles? Anyone with insight or info on the matter, please leave a comment, or contact MycoRant via email.
